the beginning of 2021
STD is a fictional racing game set in a chaotic universe filled with strange characters and surreal locations. For this project, I designed concept art for the characters and their racing vehicles, created a map of one route and wrote a backstory and narrative framework for the game’s universe

/project_story
This project was originally conceived as part of a creative exercise in a quick game design challenge. It remained at the concept stage, primarily serving as a playful exercise in world-building, character design and racing game aesthetics.
The aim was not to explore deep themes or craft a complex story; I simply wanted to enjoy designing exaggerated characters, chaotic environments and a colourful racing universe

1. Game idea & mechanics
I developed a complete gameplay concept, which included race mechanics, abilities, monetisation system and route design. I structured all the information and compiled it into a design document in Canva (it's available here if you're interested)

2. Characters
I created detailed character profiles for each racer, including their backstory, country of origin, vehicle and unique abilities. Their personalities are playful and slightly exaggerated to add charm to the game world (a separate character document is available here). To save time, I used a 3D app that allowed me to pose the figures however I wanted. Unfortunately, I can't remember what it's called

3. Narrative
I also wrote a short tale introducing the world of CTD and its atmosphere. It focuses on a young racer chasing his dream (you can read it here)

The result of this project is these three files that I opened for you above. Here is a folder with all three: click
/reflection
Although this project never made it past the conceptual stage, I learned how to quickly develop a complete game world, including everything from game systems to character design and storyline. Even though it wasn't very original, it was a pleasant and useful experience for me
